SEAFORD HEAD A 4
ETC 1
STEVENS-GRANT 1
The Year 11 team played their first game in Division 1 last week without 4 players and had to travel to Seaford with just 11 players; Captain Seb Dell had to play in goal.
ETC had to contend with a strong wind in the first half, and as a consequence, Seaford had a lot of possession. Seaford made the breakthrough after 10 minutes when a cross from the left was headed in with Dell stranded. A second soon followed when after a poor clearance led to another cross being converted at the far post. Dell then made a great save tipping a fierce shot over the bar. ETC rallied and Will Skilton and Harry Nealey both had decent long range efforts saved by the goalkeeper. Just before half time, a long ball over the top of the ETC defence found an unmarked striker and he scored easily.

Despite being 3-0 down at half time, ETC showed a great deal of determination in the second half. Seaford scored early on, but ETC kept giving everything and were finally rewarded when a good move involving Skilton and Nealey led to a great cross being converted by Cameron Stevens-Grant with a superb header. ETC continued to press and had several great chances to reduce the deficit with Tom Mason, Ryan Mills and Stevens-Grant again going close.
The match finished with a 4-1 defeat, but ETC can take plenty of positives from their first experience of Division 1 football.
Team: Seb Dell, Ferhat Ozcan, Chris Whiteman, Ryan Mills, Aaron Norwood, Cameron Stevens-Grant, Will Skilton, Luke Bridger, Tom Mason, Harry Nealey, Jason Thornton.
MOM: RYAN MILLS – “Brilliant defending and commitment throughout.”
Mr. Moore.
