Well done - Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership students

Well done - Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership students

Ten pupils at Eastbourne Technology College have received their Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership. The award makes up part of the BTEC First Diploma in Sport qualification that the students are currently working towards.
As part of the course, the students had to plan and teach groups of Primary school children in ETC’s feeder Primary schools of Parkland, Highfield and Oakwood. The activities they taught varied from football, basketball, tag rugby and tennis.

They also organised rounders and a kwik cricket tournament.
Course Leader Darren Moore said: “All of these students have shown a great deal of leadership potential in the sporting arena. They have displayed a tremendous enthusiasm to help all pupils from Year 1 up to Year 6, in a number of sports. All of the Primary school teachers have commented on how well the Sports Leaders have shown a very caring and responsible attitude at all times. I hope that all or most of these students take up the challenge of the Level 2 Award next year.”

It’s that time to check the PE kit lists to see who has managed to keep a clean sheet in terms 3 and 4.
As all pupils in KS3 know, they each have their name up in the PE changing rooms and if they forget their PE kit they get a KIT MARK.  There are 6 marks, each with their own sanctions; ranging from a caution, to detentions, or to a meeting with BBO and your parents.  If there are no marks by your name, you are put into our prize draw.

Cricket, commitment, reputation and attendance…
May 15, 2008, 10:04 pm

This is not meant as a moan, but PE staff give up a lot of their time at lunchtime and after school and we ask for the same commitment from all pupils.  Recently cricket nets have been poorly attended and our younger students have not attended the games.  When we cannot fulfil fixtures we let down everyone involved and ETCs reputation is affected.

Please can we all make an effort to get organised and attend practices and matches if you have committed to the team.  We have cricket, rounders and tennis matches coming up so please see teachers running that club to let them know if you are interested, otherwise some fixtures will have to be cancelled.
