Congratulations to the Faraday Community for a comprehensive victory in this years sports day.  After the field events they were in 2nd place, but after the track events they won the trophy by over 130 points.
Well done to the sports captains that had their team lists and organised their communities well.  Most races and events had 8 competitors involved.
Thanks to all staff involved, for giving up their time and for making the day such a success.

We look forward to next year to see if Faraday can defend their crown.

STAFF RACE (The race of stallions and donkeys)

RACE 1
The staff race at ETC 2008 sports day was a sporting classic, and controversial in its result.  Eight “prime” athletes stood at the start line, they spent years training ready for this great day.
A hush of expectation fell on the crowd, the wind suspiciously dropped and time stood still!  The whistle was blown, old and young limbs and muscles contracted like old and young trees, the race was on.

The two old “gits” Mr Ellis and Mr Turner got off to a great start, their streaked grey hair shined in the sunlight.  At 50 meters Mr Turner had broken away, his chest broke the tape at 11.8 seconds, but his glory was short lived.  Video evidence and money was given to the track judges, a false start was the result!  A re-run was demanded by the baying crowd.

Mr Ellis and Mr Turner were taken away for drug testing, there were traces of PG tips and pro plus in their blood.

RACE 2
After a heated debate, the “saga” pin ups Mr Ellis and Mr Turner were reinstated and race 2 took place.  At the start Mr Moore got a great start, like a gazelle being chased by a lion.  At 50m Mr “Forest Gump” Sams sporting a skin head haircut, was in contention as was the bullish in style Mr “Big Boy” Brennan.  Mr Roberts was coming up on the outside, but the dark horse Mr Stewart made a late surge.  His chicken like steps and chicken like dip for the line secured the silver medal, but it was Mr Moores day, the young Seaford athlete broke the tape at 12.8 seconds.
Final placing: 1st Mr Moore, 2nd Mr Stewart and 3rd Mr Turner.
